What Is a Projector Session?

A projector session is one of the most breathtaking and artistic experiences we offer at Hudson Valley Boudoir Photography.

During your session Erin projects stunning imagery — florals, galaxies, stained glass, abstract light, nature, geometric patterns, and more — directly onto your body. The result is a series of photographs so otherworldly and extraordinary that clients consistently describe them as the most stunning images they have ever seen of themselves.

No two projector sessions are ever the same.
The light shifts. The patterns move. The images are entirely, unrepeatable yours.

Why Fall and Early Winter

There is a reason these sessions only happen in the fall and early winter — and it goes far beyond the season.

As the Hudson Valley settles into its most dramatic and beautiful months the days grow shorter, the sun sets earlier, and something shifts inside the studio. The temperature drops to the perfect working coolness. The outside world quiets down. And the projector light — unrushed, unhurried, completely unhurried — gets to do exactly what it was born to do.

We take our time.

There is no racing the afternoon sun. No heat to contend with. No rushing to the next pose before the light changes. In the fall and early winter we can stay with a single moment — playing with the projection, adjusting the angle, chasing the perfect fall of light across your skin — until it is absolutely right.

What to Expect

The Session

Your projector session begins the same way every boudoir experience does — with professional hair, makeup and lashes done onsite before a single frame is captured. Then Erin works with you to select the projections that speak to your vision, your mood, and the story you want to tell.

The imagery is projected directly onto your body as you move through a series of artistic poses — guided entirely by Erin, who has spent years developing the skill and vision to make this experience as extraordinary as possible. Because the studio is cooler and the light falls earlier in the day, every session has a naturally unhurried, meditative quality that clients describe as completely unlike anything else they have experienced.
